Story
Every night in Lincolnshire people are sleeping on our streets, our doorways, and in places they feel unsafe and unseen. In the UK in 2024, 1,611 individuals experiencing homelessness died, 11 of which were children. These are not faceless statistics; they are lives cut short.
At YMCA Lincolnshire we want to save the lives of those at risk of homelessness and support them every step of the way on a journey to independence and a brighter future. Not only does our supported accommodation provide a roof and a warm space, our 24/7 wrap-around support ensures every individual has the resources they need to take on their journey.
But we can’t do it alone. Our Nomad Centre costs over half a million pounds each year to run and we rely on donations from the public to contribute to these growing costs. That’s why events like Sleep Easy matter. The funds raised in these events will support the vital services that keep people safe tonight, help them off the street tomorrow, and work to rebuild their lives.
Because when someone sleeps outside, they’re odds of dying young increase. When someone is moved into safe temporary accommodation and given support, we save lives.
Whether you donate to our charity or take part in our sleep out – together we can stop homelessness becoming a sentence, and start saving lives in Lincolnshire.
