Story
This year's Refugee Week theme is Courage.
For refugees around the world, finding courage is a daily necessity. It is the courage to face unknown journeys, learn new languages, navigate unfamiliar systems, or simply to wake up each morning and step into an uncertain world.
At a time when some seek to divide and blame, Refugee Week 2026 calls us to come together and share the courage to welcome, to stand for what we believe in.
Our youth clubs are places of welcome for young people who are isolated, lonely and without family. Our caseworkers make sure young people have everything they need to thrive - somewhere safe to live, a college place, a doctor or a lawyer. And we campaign against hostile politics and laws designed to make life harder for those who have fled conflict or persecution and are rebuilding their lives here.
Communities are stronger when everyone feels they belong. It’s vital that we stand together to welcome refugees. By supporting Young Roots, you help create a welcoming community where they feel safe and can rebuild their lives.
Attending the youth activities helps me feel less lonely and I enjoy playing with other young people I feel I belong to.
Having something to come to every week and a schedule of activities gives you value, keep you in the community, being integrated. We are meeting new people, sharing what we are going through.
