Story
Newman House is the Catholic Chaplaincy of the University Birmingham, and was opened to Students on 18th February 1966. It is a home to students, enabling them to experience life in a Christian community, and it offers a venue for activities of the Catholic Student Society of the University. Above all, it is a place where life-long relationships and friendships are forged and where residents, visitors and friends from the University are able to explore, enrich and reinforce the foundations of their Catholic faith. In the 50 years of its existence, Newman House as a building has remained without significant new investment in its infrastructure. What was adequate accommodation when built, no longer meets present day standards. Fundamental elements of the building’s infrastructure are in urgent need to be replaced and updated. The cost of this essential work has been estimated at around £250,000, so we are launching an appeal to raise this money.
