Story
St Mary's Church on Stow Hill in Newport is one of the jewels in the crown of the Archdiocese of Cardiff. Since 1839, St Mary's has served the people of Newport and born witness to some memorable historic events. The march of the Chartists in the Newport Rising marched passed the church before confronted by the army.
Over the years, Newport city centre has grown around the church and the congregation consists of people from all over Newport and visitors alike.
Age has taken it's toll on the building and the roof of the church has a number of different leaks that cause problems in rainy seasons! The roof is in need of urgent repair and your support would be appreciated.
