National Bat Helpline appeal - bat care

Summer is the most active time for these fascinating creatures. Unfortunately, it’s also a time when many bats get into trouble so they need all the help they can get.

We are the leading non-governmental organisation in the UK solely devoted to the conservation of bats and the landscapes on which they rely. Everything we do works towards our vision of a world rich in wildlife where bats and people thrive together.

Story

Just because you have wings doesn’t mean you don’t need angels!

As you know if you’ve enjoyed watching bats swoop after insects on a warm evening, summer is the most active time for these fascinating creatures. Unfortunately, it’s also a time when many bats get into trouble – caught by cats, trapped in buildings or (in the case of babies) separated from their mums.

This summer, the Bat Conservation Trust’s National Bat Helpline expect to receive 40 calls and e-mails per day* from members of the public who have found bats. We put finders in touch with a network of incredible volunteers who care for bats and allow many of them to fly free once more.

Bat care calls account for over half the calls received on the Helpline. And this aspect of our work is funded almost entirely by donations from people like you!

Just £3 will cover the cost of an average call to the Helpline, possibly saving a bat’s life and helping preserve these valuable species for future generations. Money from this appeal can also help us to support our volunteer network and produce resources for wildlife rehabilitators and vets.

Please give today – be an angel for bats.
