Children on the Edge is a child rights organisation that supports some of the world’s most marginalised children, living in the toughest situations, including war zones, refugee crises and slums in Bangladesh, India, Uganda, Myanmar, and Lebanon.

Story

Almost 200,000 Syrians have lost their lives in the escalating conflict; forcing 4 million Syrians to flee as refugees. The UN has declared this the biggest humanitarian crisis in a generation. News of refugees arriving into Europe is hitting our TVs but the unreported story is that the vast majority of Syrian refugees remain in neighbouring countries - where our cameras are not clicking. Their stories are not making headlines.

1 million Syrian refugees are now in Lebanon, a country now struggling to accommodate this flood of new arrivals. As a result many smaller refugee camps have sprung up throughout the Bekaa Valley, many of which are still without basic services for children, including education. Children on the Edge is supporting the running of three tent schools for children aged 6 -12, raising up refugee teachers from within the Syrian community. With more children arriving in the camp each day we urgently need to secure funding for a fourth school to launch this October.
