Story
We will be training 15 young TB patients to make radio programmes about the disease, with our partners, and a local community radio station to limit the impact of TB on young people in the region. The project will culminate in the children running their own radio station, educating and informing young people about TB.
How does radio help?
The fight against TB isn’t a scientific or a biological challenge, it’s an educational challenge. TB is perfectly treatable and the required drugs are readily available. However, in spite of there are approximately 170,000 cases in Tanzania every year, resulting in about 58,000 deaths.
CRF will be producing a series of radio programmes addressing different aspects surrounding TB to educate young people in preventing TB infection, debunking the negative stigma of TB, and supporting children through to the completion of their TB treatment.
