Story
The wonderful Classicist Tomb and Chapel of Marie von Ebner–Eschenbach in Zdislavice, Czech Republic has been selected as the Czech National Trust's pilot project. She was a most remarkable European literary personality in the 19th century, twice a Nobel prize nominee for literature and the first woman to hold an honorary doctorate from Vienna University. A household name in Austria, born in Moravia, but forgotten in it’s Czech parts after the fall of Austro-Hungarian Empire.
By restoring this monument and its English park we wish to return this extraordinary personality to the Czech nation.
Czech National Trust have secured ownership of the monument, already raised £173,000 of the £520,000 needed to restore it and work is racing ahead. But with the increasing numbers of visitors, CNTA aims to raise a further £5000 to rebuild a ruined structure, found engulfed in the undergrowth, as a Visitor centre. This will be run by volunteers.
