Visit the charity's profileCPU offers free and low fee psychoanalytic psychotherapy. We have been in existence since 1969, providing short and long term psychotherapy to people facing emotional distress and personal difficulties. We provide treatment to over a hundred people annually. Those who come to us may be suffering from relationship problems, depression, anxiety, social isolation, eating disorders, trauma, abuse and other issues. Our service is available to people across London from all backgrounds and we welcome enquiries from anyone who seeks help, from those who want to find out what kind of services will be best for them as well as from those who seek psychotherapy. People may refer themselves directly to CPU. Referrals may also be made by GPs, social workers, local hospitals and voluntary organisations. We offer free therapy to those unable to pay. For those who are able to pay we charge fees on a sliding scale.
From 1969 until 2010, CPU was fully funded by the NHS. In December 2010, our entire NHS funding was withdrawn. Since then, we have managed to remain open through vigorous fundraising. Our continued work depends on ongoing fundraising efforts and the continued backing of our friends and supporters.
