Story
The annual Round the Island Race, organised by the Island Sailing Club, is a one-day yacht race around the Isle of Wight, an island situated off the south coast of England.
The race regularly attracts over 1,700 boats and around 16,000 sailors, making it one of the largest yacht races in the world and the fourth largest participation sporting event in the UK after the London Marathon and the Great North and South Runs.
The Race is pleased to announce the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust will continue as the Official Race Charity for 2017.
The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust is a national organisation that supports young people aged between 8-24 in recovery from cancer through sailing. Trust sailing trips provide the opportunity to try something new and exciting with others who have experienced a similar journey, to rebuild self confidence which is vital to their long term recovery and full engagement with future life.
