Story

On 17th April 2016 a fire destroyed the home of Foden’s Band. With their home in Sandbach for the past 116 years, Foden’s are regarded as one of the world’s leading brass bands and the fire has devastated a band room which contained historical artefacts, a music library of over 3500 pieces and many of the band’s musical instruments as well as their famous red jackets.Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service battled to save as much as possible, but it is now clear that of the artefacts saved, considerable repair and preservation costs must be found. The fire has broken the hearts of not only band members, but music lovers across the banding world. Now facing a huge challenge to regroup and rebuild, the band would be extremely grateful for any contribution people can make towards restoring the items of historical significance we have left and getting us back to doing what we do best – making music.

Now a year on it has been a huge struggle for the band but we have never missed a rehearsal, concert or failed in any of our projects. With your generous support we will continue to re-build the band and if you would like to keep in touch, see where we are performing or even become a Patron please go to www.fodensband.co.uk

Thanks again on behalf of all the band!
