Story
Due to an increasing need for support of school children across the summer holidays and increasing interest from the community to expand the Big Red Box project we are introducing a summer pilot scheme benefiting children from local schools who rely on school meals and therefore might struggle or go without over the summer holidays.
According to crucial research by Northumbria University, more than six out of ten parents with household incomes of less than £25,000 are struggling to feed their children outside of term time.
Our plan is to provide food hampers in long life bags to two partnering schools, who will distribute to the children who are in need of extra support across the summer holidays.
This is a pilot project and we need your help and support to make it a success, due to the scale of the project we are not asking for food donations this year. Instead we would love for you to consider giving a financial donation. All donations received will be used to fill the bags with the food from our list (see below) we will then deliver to the schools before the end of term.
In the event that we exceed all expectations of fundraising, any extra funds will go to support the Big Red Box Christmas project this year.
We would really appreciate your help to make this pilot scheme a success so we might be able to help more children and their families in future years! Any financial support you can offer would be really appreciated!
