“Thank you for the opportunity to feel safe and for the comfort of knowing that there are people supporting me - in a time that's been difficult to talk to family and friends.” Woman in her 30s
Approximately 1 in 4 women, and 1 in 8 men have experienced some kind of unwanted sexual experience. Everyday in the media we are seeing more and more people coming forwards to report their experiences and the #MeToo campaign has highlighted the vast number of people affected by these horrific events.
Lifecentre's passion and commitment is to repair and prevent the impact of the violation that is rape and sexual abuse. We do this through providing a free, national helpline as well as face-to-face counselling for survivors and their close supporters.
This Christmas we would like to raise £5,000 to provide 5 survivors with a full course of counselling, giving them hope for the future. 50% of survivors we meet have considered suicide so counselling can, literally, save a life.
In 2016 we found that of those who had completed counselling, 98% felt that they had benefited, 96% felt safer and 96% have higher self-confidence.
Help us give a gift of hope this Christmas, thank you!
