Story
John Hammond and his team of intrepid cyclists and Rotarians (Loddon Vale & Hamburg Haake) are undertaking another inspiring Cyclethon from Reading to Hamburg over 8 days in May 2016.
The charities to be helped are a local charity Launchpad, that helps some of Reading’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged people to turn their lives around and Camfed, which tackles poverty and inequality by supporting girls in rural southern Africa by educating girls. Camfed is the chosen charity of Loddon Vale's President, Anne Coulson, because she believes strongly in educating young women.
The Cyclethon 2016 is nearly 500 miles and will be joined by cyclists from our twinned club Hamburg Haake Rotary Club at the German border and will finish with a joyous rally in Hamburg. This is the first time cyclists from our two Rotary clubs have undertaken a joint fundraising event and the rally will coincide with the visit of 16 Loddon Vale Rotarians and partners to Hamburg as part of our twinning process.
