Story
Luna was bought online on impulse. After just a few days, she was given up.
Her new owner hadn’t been given her full background and didn’t know she was suffering with highly contagious mange, so the poor puppy ended up in our care needing urgent veterinary treatment in our isolation unit.
Mo’s fate was similar. This young cat was bought using a boot sale app and given up after just one week as his new owners didn't consider the time it would take to look after a pet. After our Vet Team gave Mo a health check at our on-site Community Vet Clinic, he settled in well to our Cattery and soon found a loving home.
Sadly, like many other abandoned animals, Luna could be spending this Christmas in a shelter.
‘I am NOT an Impulse Buy’ aims to raise awareness of the worrying trend of pets ending up in rescue shelters due to impulse buys, especially around Christmas time. Watch our campaign video here: www.themayhew.org/notanimpulsebuy
With many animals in our care over the festive period it could cost us up to £500 per day to look after them. Please help us be there for all our animals this December.
Instead of an impulse buy this Christmas, please consider an impulse donation and help animals like Luna find a loving home.
