Bodmin Pony Appeal

We have recently rescued 23 ponies from Bodmin Moor. All were in poor condition and desperately needed our help. £2000 will help us with the cost of caring for these traumatised and frightened ponies.

We’re the place for people who want to make a difference to the lives of foals, horses and ponies. The Mare and Foal Sanctuary rescues horses and ponies that have been abandoned, neglected or abused. We also ensure that horses and ponies have a sanctuary for life.

Story

Bodmin Moorland Ponies Kea, Petrok, Hicca and Tremain (pictured above) were among those rescued most recently who are now being cared for at our specialist welfare and veterinary unit. The first horses to be rescued were in very bad condition, they were underweight and suffering from very high worm and parasite burdens. Unfortunately, one young colt sadly died. Another was so debilitated that for the first month he had to be lifted up every day as he was too weak to stand up himself.

We are pleased to be involved in this multi-agency operation to improve the welfare of ponies on Bodmin Moor. Redwings Horse Sanctuary and the RSPCA led the operation in collaboration with the Bodmin Moor Commons Council. All of the Bodmin ponies here at the Sanctuary are now making progress. They are slowly recovering with lots of love, care and attention from our dedicated grooms.

£4000 could go towards the cost of caring for these ponies. Please help if you can by making a donation today. Thank you.
