On November 19th, Steve Bullows will complete his 100th run for Mummy's Star at Conwy Half Marathon. Wearing his vest with pride at events he has raised the profile of Mummy's Star wherever he goes. We know many other runners have done the same!!
Virtual Star Runners aims to bring all our supporters together throughout November!! The funds raised will be used to continue the work of Mummy's Star, helping families to navigate the stresses of treatment, surgery, benefits and work, while carrying and raising their babies. Providing funds to alleviate the financial burden of a cancer diagnosis and supplying information and training to health care professionals.
Once you have run your race, send us a photo of your watch/running app/results page and receive your medal in the post! Inspired by Steve reaching an amazing 100 races for Mummy's Star, we invite you to set a fundraising target of £100.
These essential funds will help families like Joanne's.
"I found a lump in my right breast around 34 weeks pregnant aged 36. In my opinion, I had a bad pregnancy and so just put it down to changes in hormones. Little did I know that at 37 weeks pregnant I would be told that they found a tumour and that I had triple negative breast cancer, a rare form of aggressive cancer. My whole world came to a stand still. All my plans for an amazing maternity leave vanished.
Having a cancer diagnosis whilst you’re pregnant and then having treatment following your child’s birth isn’t normal. I felt very lonely at times. Nobody understood the challenges I had until I was introduced to the Mummy’s Star forum. What a relief, because on that private forum I felt for the first time “normal”, and I am so grateful and privileged to part of the Mummy’s Star family."
