Story
We're raising awareness of the distance patients and caregivers travel for PMP and appendix cancer treatment. Patients often have to travel long distances for treatment for pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) and appendix cancer.
In the UK, there are just two nationally funded centres for treatment, the Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital and the Christie in Manchester, with most patients being treated in Basingstoke.Patients and their caregivers have to fund the travel themselves. Some patients may qualify under NHS Low Income Schemes for their own travel or it maybe funded by their Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). There still is the cost to the caregiver and accommodation in many cases.
To join the campaign, find out how far your person has to travel for treatment, that is your target fundraising amount. Work out how you might be able to fundraise that amount and you're ready to create your fundraising page.
