Story
Springboard was started in 1986 by a group of Mums who all had children with disabilities, but no support. Our mission is to give the best possible start in life to children under 5 with additional needs and disabilities by providing specialist early learning and interventions and offering support and friendship to their families, across North Somerset. Here are some of their comments:
Springboard gives my son the opportunity to be himself – no questions asked, no judgements made!! They care, support, listen and are amazing!! Springboard means that we can come and play somewhere where everyone is equal, my sons’ disability doesn’t matter. Springboard is a support platform for families designed to stop you hitting the ground in tough times and spring your child and family higher to reach goals they wouldn’t reach alone. Springboard has become our family’s most treasured support system. If it wasn’t for them our life would be so different and we could not thank them enough. Springboard gives our son the tools to learn and grow towards a normal life. It gives us the confidence and acceptance that all will be ok. A friendly face at the end of a long and hard journey.
In 30 years we have supported almost 3000 children and families, currently working with 101 children each week from our 3 centres and our inclusion service. We believe in celebrating each child's strengths, building on their interests and abilities and working with their families to ensure they get what they need. Our highly skilled and dedicated early years' practitioners provide play, education, care and lots of fun. Partners such as speech and language therapists and physiotherapists work with us and families, with everyone working together. Springboard is NOT part of a charity chain, we have no big safety net to fall back on; every penny is spent on North Somerset children and families.
Please help us to keep going.
