Story

Bath has been shaken by the untimely deaths of 12 young people since 2009 in the River Avon . We plan to build a memorial that will last for many years so these lives will not be forgotten and by reminding others of the danger of the river, we hope to prevent further deaths. The Bath Quays Memorial Trust is a joint venture between relatives of Sam Amin, 18 who fell into the river after a night out in Bath in 2015, and St Philip and St James Church in Bath. We have Planning Permission for a monument to be placed as part of the revamp of the new Bath Quays.

Since Sam's death new river safety measures are in place, but Bath residents have been shocked again by the latest tragedy of Henry Burke, 19, in November 2016.We believe these accidents should be prevented and together with B+NES and other residents of the city we hope our memorial will show they didn't die in vain.See more on our website; www.bqmt.org.uk
