Story

Once again we are asking for your support by sponsoring The Island Trust crews in raising funds by sponsoring our teams in the 26 mile marathon challenge, to send deserving young people on activity sailing voyages that could change the course of their lives. The Island Trust provides life-enhancing, residential and day-sailing activities for young people with special needs, disabilities, and those experiencing hardship and deprivation. £30 will help us to provide the food for a six day outdoor adventure for a young person in desperate need of a break, £110 will buy a days outdoor activity sailing, and £550 a life-changing voyage of discovery. We work with individuals, schools, youth groups, church and community organisations, offering entry-level Royal Yachting Association Training Courses, which contribute to CV’s and long-term employment prospects as well as raising aspiration and confidence in young people who are often marginalised and vulnerable. Our bursaries are wholly based on need and can be up to 100% of costs. Beneficiaries are aged primarily from 14 – 18 but on occasion, may be as young as 10 and can be up to the age of 25.
