Visit the charity's profileInspired by the fantastic work of Anchor and the University of Aberdeen - and of course by our fellow staff doing the NC500 in only 9 days!! We decided we didn’t want to miss out on this opportunity to raise money for something that will truly make a difference in Aberdeen.
So 13 (crazy) Aberdeen medical students take on the National 3 Peaks Challenge. (Kirsten Boyd, Becky Dunlop, Eilidh Maclean, Charlie Osborne, Jennifer Duncan, Ali Hunter, Fez Shah, Douglas Canning, Shannon Kemp, Finlay Sinclair, Harry O’Cuinn, Olivia Duthie, and Hannah Falconer). This comprises of:
ALL IN 24 HOURS! Surely not…
We will be starting at 5pm at Ben Nevis on Friday 11th May, before driving to start climbing Scafell Pike at 4am on Saturday morning, and finishing with Snowdon by 5pm. With only 7 weeks to go before we throw ourselves into this challenge, any donations/support/walking buddies will be much appreciated to keep our motivation going!
The University is seeking to attract the world’s brightest minds to lead pioneering cancer research. The new centre will build on, and take to the next stage, the oncology research already underway at the University in areas including breast cancer and urological cancer, as well as increasing activity in a number of other key areas such as lung and colorectal cancers. It will also enable Aberdeen to develop further as a hub for vital clinical trials and enhance understanding of the role played by diet, nutrition, early-life influences and environmental factors in the development of the disease.
We are extremely grateful to local charity Friends of ANCHOR which has committed to raise £1 million for the project to celebrate its 20th year. Now we need to build on this support and you are the key.
