13 Aberdeen medical students take on the National 3 Peaks Challenge

Story

On May the 11th some folks and I will be undertaking the 3 Peaks Challenge to raise money for a new cancer research centre in Aberdeen.

The challenge involves climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon all in under 24 hours. This includes 23 miles of trekking and 3064 metres of ascent.

The University is seeking to attract the worlds brightest minds to lead pioneering cancer research. The new research centre will build on the oncology research already underway at the University in areas including breast cancer and urological cancer, as well as increasing activity in a number of key areas such as lung cancer and colorectal cancers.

It will also enable Aberdeen to develop further as a hub for vital clinical trials and enhance understanding of the role played by diet, nutrition, early-life influences and environmental factors in the development of the disease.

Friends of ANCHOR have committed to raising £1 million for the project and so in doing this challenge we aim contribute in our own small way towards the project as well.
