Story
Crime can affect anyone. One in seven of us will be affected by crime each year so it’s likely that you or someone close to you will experience it at some point in your life.
If you help us run our Supportline 24/7 we can be there for more people like Lynn in their time of need:
"This is a lifeline for so many people."
When she met Paul* at a party in 2010, Lynn thought she’d found the man of her dreams. It wasn’t long before Lynn fell pregnant and was excited about becoming a first-time mum with her new partner. Instead, he subjected her to years of emotional and physical abuse. After another attack that ended in a hospital visit, the police referred Lynn on to Victim Support. ‘I can honestly say they’ve basically saved my life.’ For Lynn, a 24/7 Supportline for people experiencing crime or abuse is ‘essential’. ‘Having someone at the end of the phone to just talk to and not judge you or just listen, there are no words to describe how important that service will be.’

For many people, calling Supportline will be the first experience they have of talking to anyone about the crime. This makes it all the more crucial for them to feel listened to, supported and understood. With your help we can answer even more calls ensuring we are there for as many people as possible when they need us most.
