Story
In Gloucestershire, mentoring works for young people who have been out of work for long periods, for those on zero-hours contracts looking for a better future or for those who have left education and simply need direction.
To date we have supported 95 young people, who came via our drop-in centre or who'd been through our work development programmes, by matching them with business mentors across Gloucestershire.
75% of those involved have now found work, returned to education or are in long-term work experience. But the programme is not all about hard statistics and there have been huge jumps in the levels of confidence, commitment and motivation.
It costs £1,000 to provide a mentor to support a young person for a year. YG's "Mentoring Young Futures" appeal aims to increase the number of young people on the programme this year, raising the aspirations of another 50 young people empowering them to achieve their own dreams and goals.
