Story
Canoe Against Cancer (CAC)
www.canoeagainstcancer.com
Darren Apps (D.A.) and Steve Gallagher (Skippy) have
entered this years Missouri 340 Canoe Race. It is the world's longest annual
river race, 340 miles to be completed within 88 hours! This takes place in July
on the Missouri river in America. The race is a true test of endurance, with
one third of entrants failing to finish within the allotted time. It starts on
the 27th July in Kansas and finishes on the 30th July in
St. Louis.
We are hoping to attract sponsorship by completing this event and have
set up a charity to be the benefactor. Canoe Against Cancer (CAC) has been
set up because one of our friends, Fraser Jones, has been diagnosed with cancer
this year. Fraser has two young children, a mortgage and is currently unable to
work due to the treatment he is undergoing. He is receiving help from Macmillan
cancer support. They will receive 50% of the funds raised; the rest will go
into a managed trust fund we have set up for Fraser. If you would like to
donate we both have sponsor forms, DA's can be found in the George & Dragon
Tonbridge.
At Macmillan, we will move mountains to help people with cancer live life as fully as they can.
We’re doing whatever it takes. But without your help we can’t support everyone who needs us. To
