Well, I did it.  Just under 150 miles in 3 days!  It was a fantastic experience even with a couple of little hiccups and changes of route due to problems on the towpath.

WHAT AM I DOING?

I'm going to be doing a solo 150 mile bike ride from Brentford Lock, following the towpath along the Grand Union Canal, to Central Birmingham between the 25th and 27th May this year.   Now I am unfit, overweight and 40 something so this is going to be a pretty big challenge.  My training has not gone well over the winter so I will need to get a lot of training in over the next 8 weeks!

WHY AM I DOING IT?

As some of you know I lost my sister-in-law nearly 2 years ago to Pancreatic Cancer.  a year later I lost another friend to the same disease.  Pancreatic Cancer usually has an extremely low survival rate and receives much less publicity and funding than other charities.

I am hoping that, through people like me doing incredibly stupid things like this ride, money can be raised to increase the amount of research into diagnosis, treatment and possibly - someday - a cure.
