Hello!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Below is a quick word on what I am trying to raise money for.... (this is the first time I've ever undertaken anything sponsored, so thank you for reading my page!)

In August 2009 I'm heading off with a team to climb Kilimanjaro, something I've long wanted to do! We will climb Kilimanjaro during our first week and then in the second week will work with a local charity in Tanzania as we are keen to  contribute something to the local area when we are there.

I plan to pay for the cost of my trip, and then raise £1,000 on top of this to give to two charities. The first is the Guildford Town Centre Chaplaincy and the second is the charity in Tanzania that I will be working with. Brief details of both are below:

Guildford Town Centre Chaplaincy: runs Guildford Street Angels which is a project my husband Adrian has been part of for a year now. Once a month he spends a night on the street, with the aim of helping those in need and being a positive presence around the town. The project has been incredibly well received by the local authorities and police, as well as the folks who encounter Street Angels on the streets. I believe it makes a significant impact for good in our town.

Tanzania: Uru North Community Development Trust. 'UNCODET' is a community NGO representing 4 villages (Njari, Ongoma, Mrawi and Msuni) in the Uru area, about 30 minutes drive from Moshi town and at the foot of Kilimanjaro. UNCODET is a shining example of how communities in rural Tanzania can be proactive in working together to address common problems. This week placement will allow part of your donation to be used within this local community to pay for materials & local labour as we get our hands dirty on renovation/refurbishment &construction focused projects in the district.
