Challenge Africa currently operates in the Kenyan towns of Wagusu and Abimbo, situated on the shores ofLake Victoria. Mistakenly, people believe this to be an affluent area; however, this could not be further from the truth; especially since the recent atrocities that have unfolded – unfortunately initiated in the region where we operate. Wagusu demonstrates strong indicators of extreme poverty including high prevalence rates of HIV/AIDS which are at 33% compared to the national average of 6.7%. It is also home to over 200 vulnerable orphans largely due to this harrowing disease, all of whom currently have no immediate support.
