About us
BrainWaves is a long-term research and education program developed in collaboration with the University of Oxford, The Day News and Media and Swansea University. Our mission is to address the growing youth mental health crisis by building the evidence base and creating resources to help schools and young people. We are conducting a large, longitudinal studies of adolescent mental health, recruiting 50,000 students aged 11-19 over 10 years. This study will provide a unique insight into the adolescent brain and mental health, allowing us to design effective, evidence-based therapeutic interventions specifically for young people.
The data collected will be used to power new research and will be made freely available to researchers in the UK and globally, enabling new insights into prevention and treatment. In addition to our research, we are providing cutting-edge, evidence-backed educational resources for teachers and students to effectively nurture mental wellbeing in the classroom. BrainWaves is a unique project that bridges the gap between the research community and the classroom, ensuring that scientific discoveries directly benefit the mental health and wellbeing of young people. Your support will help us continue this vital work and build a healthier future for generations to come.
