Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

My name is Charlotte White and I’m 18 years old and for the last 7 years of my life I have had very limited mobility; resulting in me being wheel chair bound. My wheel chair is my only form of independence which I drive using my thumbs. I am now in a period of rehabilitation which has increased both my neck control and trunk stability but I still have along way to go. Throughout my time of immobility I have received help from lots of different sources. Two of these have been my school and the Drake Music project.
My school is called St Rose’s. It is a special needs school; it is based in Stroud, Gloucestershire. It is a fantastic school which caters for over 70 pupils of varying levels of disabilities with the aim of developing everyone’s abilities to the highest level. Freedom and independence for the individual is a major part of the school’s goal. The high standard of therapy staff and carers at St Rose’s has greatly assisted my recovery to date.
I have been attending sessions with the Drake Music Project who come to the school on a regular basis. This is a charitable organisation set up to help anyone who has a disability to play music. Through the use of computers, midi-sensors and switches even the most disabled can play. All you need is the movement of a very small part of your body, like your tongue.  Through my attendance of these lessons I have been empowered to independently produce and play a piece by Eduard Grieg and JS Bach with the help of my very patient tutor, Doug.
Both of these organisations play a fantastic roll in helping my life and lives of many others. The level of help that both these organisations provide is very rare. As is so often the case both institutions are very under funded. St Rose’s is trying to raise money for a hydro pool which is a vital piece of equipment to help maintain and enhance movement for those in wheel chairs. The Drake Music Project is always in search of new equipment to help bring the fun of music to more people around the country.
In my desire to help support these two very worthy organisations I came up with the idea to do a tandem parachute jump, which I have never done before in my life.
Please will you sponsor my ‘JUMP FOR FREEDOM’ in a bid to help me raise money for the two organisations close to my heart?

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Drake Music Project will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
