Event: Virgin London Marathon 2011, on 17 April 2011
We are there for heart families to provide support at every stage

Story

Our beautiful daughter Lucy, passed away peacefully on April 2nd, 2010, aged 8 days in our arms.  She died of congenital heart failure, We are still coming to terms with her death but we are grateful that we had some time with her even if it was for such a short period of time.

The staff at St.Thomas’s Hospital were truly incredible when treating Lucy and because of this I wanted to give something back for all their efforts. For this reason I have decided to run the London Marathon, 2011 for ECHO (Evelina Children’s Heart Organisation).  ECHO supports the parents/carers, close family and children who are treated at the Evelina Children’s Hospital, principally for Congenital Heart Defects. Doctors from Evelina were directly connected with Lucy’s treatment alongside the doctors and nurses in the neo-natal intensive care unit at St. Thomas’s.

For anyone that knows me fairly well they will know that I am not a runner, never have been. I have seen a couple of friends run the Marathon in the past and always vowed that I would never undertake such an ordeal! I may enjoy my tennis and golf but the furthest I have ever run is 6 miles and that was 15 years ago. Lucy will be my motivation through the hard months of training along with the end goal of raising as much money as possible for such a great cause.

Please dig deep and donate generously as it would mean the world to Sybil and I if I can hit or even exceed my fundraising target.  Do come out and support on Sunday 17th April as I know your cheers will help me to get round!
