I can hardly believe that my daughter, Rachel, will be 40 this year! She died at the age of 24 in St. Luke's Hospice, Sheffield in 1993. Her brother, Simon, and I have decided to take part in the Steel City Midnight Walk, raising money for the Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice, to "celebrate" Rachel's special birthday.
We have opted for "the Full Monty", walking from Sheffield Wednesday's ground to Sheffield United's ground and back again. It's only 10K - hardly much of a challenge you might think, certainly less of a challenge than the Inca Trail, which my husband and I did in 2003, walking in Rachel's memory and raising £10,000 for St. Luke's. However, 6 years on, one knee replacement and a second one imminent, it'll be enough of a challenge for me! We know that Rachel will be delighted. Fun-loving, caring and always willing to accept a challenge as she was, it seems a most appropriate way of marking her 40th birthday.
If you would like to sponsor me in memory of Rachel, I would be most grateful. Any amount you can spare will be much appreciated by Simon and myself, and Bluebell Wood too, of course!
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you so much for your support.
