Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

I am raising money in the name of my friend Terry Doherty who was taken from us with a virulent type of lung cancer at Easter 2009. Terry was cared for in his last weeks by the excellent services of the team at the Sue Ryder Home in Nettlebed and Terry's family are keen to raise as much money as we can to repay them for their care.

I am taking part in a marathon skiing expedition to ski 24 peaks in under two days. As you may know skiing is a passion of mine as it was for Terry (he carried out a similar fundraising event for Scope) and I thought it fitting to follow in his footsteps and see how quickly the challenge can be completed.

The challenge will be taking place on 28th and 29th February 2010. Terry's family and I are hoping to be able to supply the Sue Ryder Home with enough funds to go a long way to buying one of two specialist bath units that the home requires to allow them to provide an even greater level of care.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Sue Ryder Care gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!  www.justgiving.com/chrisrook

Sue Ryder is here to make sure everyone approaching the end of their life or living with grief can get the support they need. There is no one size fits all when it comes to how we cope and the help we need, but with our support, no one has to face dying or grief alone. We are there when it matters.
