Thank you for visiting this fundraising page. My mother, Christine Mary Haydon, died on Wednesday 20 August 2008, having been diagnosed with terminal cancer as recently as June 2008.
Christine was a teacher by profession, serving at the Delce in Strood, St Mary's in Cliffe and King's School, Rochester. In later years, she became a priest by vocation, serving in at churches in Snodland, Aylesford, Wateringbury and East Malling. She will be sadly missed by friends, family, former pupils and members of her congregations.
After spending three weeks in Maidstone Hospital, mum was transferred to Burrswood Hospital. It is located in Groombridge, Kent, and is a place she loved and had visited on retreat and for respite care in the past. She was very happy to have her own room with a view of Burrswood's beautiful gardens. She died there peacefully after only a week.
Mum was the beneficiary of financial assistance from Burrswood's Access to Care funds, which is why donations are being sought for Burrswood.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. The Dorothy Kerin Trust gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Her funeral will take place on Thursday, 4 September, 2008, at 2.00 pm, at St James' The Great Church, East Malling in Kent where she assisted Father Jim Brown. She will be buried that day, which is the first anniversary of the fatal operation that killed her son, Christopher in December 2007. Anyone who knew either of them is welcome to attend.
Thank you for your support.
Alec Haydon (her remaining son)
