Story

WE DID IT!

During a gruelling weekend we encountererd some huge challenges but overcame all of them to complete the national three peaks in 26 hours and 39 minutes! We were the 14th team to start on Saturday afternoon and finished 7th out of 18 teams on Sunday. A fantastic achievement by all involved. Photographs to follow!

Huge thanks to everyone that has sposored us so far, you can be confident that your sponsorship has already been sent directly to those that will benefit.  We will continue to raise funds over the coming months towards our £6000 target.

Starting on Saturday 12 July the team scaled:

Ben Nevis, 1334m in 5 hours 30 minutes; Scafell Pike, 978m in 4 hours 30 minutes; and Snowdon, 1085m in 4 hours. The aim of the challenge is to complete all three by Sunday 13 July. That's 3,397 metres of climbing, over 23 miles of walking and approximately 1200 miles of driving!

In a gruelling test of teamwork, stamina and fitness, the team is aiming to raise at least £6000 for CARE INTERNATIONAL. All money raised will go directly to the charity and will be used to fight poverty in 70 countries. For more information on how your donation will be used please visit www.careinternational.org.uk.

None of this year's team members has ever completed the Three Peaks Challenge before and we are in training right now to ensure success. Please give all you can to support this fantastic cause and sponsor us online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us. CARE International UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

The whole team would like to say a big THANK YOU to our corporate sponsors:

DEC Maynmar (Burma) Cyclone Appeal
The devastation caused by Cyclone Nargis is now known to be far greater than when we contacted you last week. At least 66,000 people are dead or missing and that figure is likely to rise.

The Disasters Emergency Committee, of which CARE is a member has launched a national appeal for the survivors of the Cyclone.

Although the media is reporting that aid cannot get in, CARE has been working in Myanmar for 14 years and we have 500 local staff already active.

With 60 years’ experience responding to disasters and 14 years working in Myanmar with 500 staff already there CARE is well placed to provide the food, water and shelter that people so desperately need.

But there are still thousands more people in need of our help. So if you have not already done so, please donate now and help us save lives.

>> A gift of £25 will provide mosquito nets for 10 people protecting them from malaria in the aftermath of the cyclone.

Thank you
