I have the big 40th birthday in April 2010 and I thought there is no better way to celebrate this occasion other than to subject my body to the rigours of the London Marathon 2010. Fortunately I was very lucky to secure a charity place for the race.

The charity I am running for is HEART UK. It is a charity that dedicates itself into the research of treatments of high cholesterol and its effects on the cardiovascular system. It also provides vital support and information particulary for people who have inherited high cholesterol (IHC).1 in 100 people have IHC, but only 15% of those people are aware of it and are receiving life saving treatment.

This charity cause is very dear to my heart as I have seen through my own eyes the devasting effects cardiovascular disease has on people when I nursed in coronary care units. I wish to run in memory of all the lovely people I have met and cared for in those units.
