Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
On 28 September I will be heading to Berlin to run my first marathon. Some time back in May I decided running 42kms was a good idea (!) - And so here I am now, almost 4 months later, about to embark on the most physically gruelling event in my life so far.
I never thought I'd say I was excited to be running such a ridiculous distance, but surprisingly I am! Over the past 4 months I've gradually stopped getting terrified when my alarm goes off at 5.45am, got used to the fact that all the ends of my toes are now permanent blisters, learnt how to read a map BEFORE heading out for a half hour run (which sometimes turned into 2 hours due to my completely poor sense of direction) and that taking a bottle of water isn't such a bad idea because dehydration causes you to think weird thoughts, like drinking water from the Thames might be a good idea!
I've decided to raise money for the Children’s Heart Federation. This means firstly that there is less chance I will get scared and drop out at the last minute, but most importantly that I will be able to raise money for an important charity dedicated to helping children with congenital or acquired heart disease and their families. This is a cause close to me having had people in my family suffer from these kinds of illnesses, and very recently a friend who has suffered a heart attack at a very young age.
Please dig deep and sponsor me online. All the money raised will go to the charity as all costs of flights and registration have already been paid for by me :)
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Children's Heart Federation will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Thanks for your support!! I've even had to update my fundraising target as everyone has been so generous - thank you so much to everyone who has already sponsored me :)
