From 17th May 2009 I will be running 150 miles in 6 stages from Keetmanshoop in southern Namibia, across arid, semi-arid and subtropical terrains, to the coastal town of Luderitz. I will be required to carry everything I will need during the week, except a tent and water, which will be issued 1.5L at a time.
I am undertaking this mad mission to raise vital funds for Howard Hospital, a Salvation Army run hospital in neighbouring Zimbabwe. The people of Zimbabwe have suffered over the last 10years of rule by Dictator Robert Mugabe. Despite this the staff of Howard Hospital has continued to serve an ever increasing number of patients, as the neighbouring govenrment run hospitals have closed their doors. Staff work for minimal salaries and untrained workers undertake highly skilled tasks as qualified nurses and doctors turn to the bright lights and secure salaries offered to them in England and the rest of the world.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Salvation Army gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
