Story

The above two pictures sum up the devastating affect that Leukaemia has on children. Just six weeks on from diagnosis Fin is doing really well and has responded fantastically to the amazing treatment that he has been given. Like many of us, we had never heard of CLIC before Fin became ill. Without them we would not have had anywhere to stay when Fin was in the Bristol Children's Hospital (BCH), we would not have a community nurse, a dedicated oncology registrar or the CLIC unit in Gloucester. There wouldn't be a Ward 34 at the BCH, or the doctors, nurses and play specialists that work there.

In short, without CLIC we would not have been able to stay together as a family through the first few weeks of this terrible disease and Fin would not be doing as well as he is. The most important thing for us now is to put something back so that other families that follow our journey can continue to benefit from this amazing charity.

Each day in the UK five families are told their child has cancer or leukaemia. From that moment on their lives will never be the same again. Most children will survive, some will die, but the scars on every family will remain. CLIC's role is to try and help these children and their families cope and keep life as normal as possible. It offers an all-embracing approach including practical hands-on care, clinical services, financial and emotional support. CLIC has joined together with Sargent Cancer Care for Children to become the UK’s leading children’s cancer charity.
