Story

Hello!

28.05.2009:  Three days to go...

26.05.2009:  Eek!  Only 5 days to go...  In case anyone happens to be anywhere near the marathon course on Sunday (we start at 9 am), I'm red number 9970.  It would be good to get a cheer or two but don't blink or you'll miss me!  I've started carb loading and even tried yoga today to relax and get properly mentally prepared.

Running and playing sport definitely help my mental well being and I can't imagine not being in a position to do both, however plenty of people aren't and need help from organisations like SAMH.  Sir Chris Hoy certainly agrees with this so please join us in our support of SAMH and sponsor me for the Edinburgh Marathon!  Your donation is important to help SAMH to continue to support those in need.

Thank you x

19.05.2009:  I'm very excited to see that my favourite brewery (Edinburgh-based Stewart Brewing) has brewed a special Edinburgh Marathon Ale!  I'll be looking forward to a pint (or two) of that post-race!  Meanwhile, it's time to taper down the training - no more long runs until marathon day!  Phew!

05.05.2009:  Many thanks to everyone that has donated so far!  It's really great to have so much support so if you're wavering, please don't and hit that 'sponsor me now' button.  All the donations will help me to get through this last month of training.  Just so you know I'm not shirking, I'll be doing 20 miles this coming Sunday...

28.04.2009:  Haven't updated for ages!  Anyway, arm fracture pretty much healed.  Still the odd bit of muscle pain but the bone has definitely healed.  Completed the Edinburgh Half Marathon recently with a PB of 1:43:10 so looking forward to the big one!  Thinking about doing the Dunfermline Half Marathon on 10 May as well...

31.01.09:  Oops!  Training currently on hold due to proximal humerus fracture.  Hope it heals fast as doing the Edinburgh Half in less than 8 weeks!

The year 2009 is officially (for me) the year of the marathon!  After doing one or two half marathons I've decided it's time to step up a gear and do some serious running!  I realise this also means doing some serious training but I'll get round to that at some point...  So in a moment of madness last year I entered the Edinburgh marathon and I've decided to run for charity.  This year I'm running in aid of the Scottish Association for Mental Health and you can make a donation right here!

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Scottish Association for Mental Health gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

This will be the biggest running challenge I have undertaken so I would really appreciate your support, both mentally and financially!  Please dig deep and sponsor me now!

Many thanks!

CT x
