We are raising money for Stella Rogers, a little girl dear to our hearts as her sister attends the Nursery Class at our school.
Stella, at just 17 months, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma (high risk), originating from her adrenal gland. At the time of diagnosis the cancer had grown to a huge size in her belly, which to treat has required 70 days of aggressive chemotherapy; major surgery to remove the primary tumour; a stem cell rescue that wipes out her bone marrow, three weeks of radio therapy and six months of oral chemotherapy. She has now developed liver problems as a result of this harsh but necessary regime. In spite of all this treatment, her chances of survival are low and a relapse is very likely, but an expensive antibody therapy in the USA costing £250,000 will increase her chances significantly.
On June 4th we are running coast to coast along the Hadrian's Wall National Trail. We will start at Bowness on Solway at 5am and run a relay in pairs, each running four legs of four miles. We aim to finish at Wallsend on Tyneside, 84 miles later, at 7pm! Please sponsor us to complete the relay to raise money for Stella's treatment in the USA.
