Story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

We know that the current climate is not ideal to be asking people and businesses to be donating hard earned money to charity but this is a very good cause.

We only hear about the forces personnel who have lost their lives in the current conflict not the many injured personnel currently being treated in Hospitals such as Selly Oak in Birmingham.  "Help for Heroeswww.helpforheroes.org.uk is the organisation making a differance to these Men and Women coming back wounded from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

To bring home the need for this fund raising and the good cause it is, we have the following story of one of our "brothers" from 42 CDO RM who now is based at 45 CDO RM.

He has recently been injured in Afghanistan by a anti-personnel mine, he has lost his right leg high amputation, his left leg, the femur was broken and seriously damaged the muscle to the rear of his leg, seriously damaged his right hand which has been reconstructed, his left arm has been reconstructed also and has lost some tips of his fingers off his left hand.  "Baz" is now doing well and has now been moved to the rehabilitation facility at Headley Court.  It is here where he will learn to get mobile again and will face some tough days ahead.  But with his fantastic mental attitude and "Bootneck" spirit he will recover.  It is facilities like Headley Court that have benefited directly from the "Help for Heroes" fundraising donations to make personnel like our friend succeed and recover in the best possible environment.  Keep up the good work "Royal".

Do we need anymore motivation than that?  No!

So "The Commando Tour Bike Ride" is the above team characters going to ride a bike without a motor, leg power only...from 45 CDO in Arbroath, Angus, Scotland to 40 CDO Taunton, Somerset to the finish 42 CDO Plymouth, Devon (630 miles ish!!).  So yes we are going to have sore butts at the end but its nothing in comparison to what our Troops do everyday in the current conflict!!  So spurred on by our "Brother" in hospital with all the other injured guys and gals...please donate generously!!

We also now have the "Raise the Roof" pre-event kick off fund raiser which is going to be a fun night!  Fozzy (member of the team and drumming sensation in the band "Resus") has got the band to do a gig for the event which will include a fund raising auction in between the sets!   The auction will include sporting  memorabilia to raise the extra cash...so dont come empty handed!!

We have now had the above gig fundraiser and can confirm that we raised £2100 on the night!!  It was a great night and we thank all who attended and supported the event!! :-) Big thanks to New Brighton Rugby Club who were great hosts, Pete, Mark and Si from "Resuss" and all who donated for the auction especially our Gaz, much appreciated guys!

We are in training now for the big event "Commando Tour Bike Ride", all 630 miles of it!!!  We have kindly been sponsored by Birkenhead Cycles with the bikes for the ride so big thank you to Si & Dom for your support.

Keep on supporting guys and gals we appreciate it!

Lots of love Baz and Fozzy :-)
