Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Update:

Yesterday myself, Richard Anderson, Barry Conner and Tai Gantois took part in what could only be described as one of the most miserable days of February to run a 10k - nonetheless we did it, with Richard carrying some extra weight (he told me to add that in), Barry a season smoker, me making sure my light frame didn't get blown over in the wind and Tai wearing what can only be described as converse trainers.

With over 700 people participating in the race (1000+ registrants) we battled through the miserable conditions and crowds of people to post our fairly fantastic times that we are all proud of:

Ian Kibble - 00:41:56
Richard Anderson - 00:45:31
Barry Conner - 00:47:14
Tai Gantois - 01:03:26

More important than the times is the amount of money we've managed to raise so far for Médecins Sans Frontières - the donation amount is currently sitting at a huge £943.50, only a mere 6% off our final target of £1,000. So please if you haven't donated yet and still want to please do! Would be great to meet or even exceed the donation target.

Thank you to all of you have donated, your helping a great cause by doing so.

Thanks again,

Ian Kibble, Tai Gantois, Barry Conner and Richard Anderson.

On Tuesday, 12 January 2010 at 16:53 local time Haiti was left devastated by a catastrophic earthquake which measured at 7.0 on the moment magnitude scaled, and since then a series of at least 52 aftershocks measuring still at a very high 4.5+. The death toll continues to rise with a recent count of 212,000 confirmed deaths and up to 240,000 - 400,000 estimated deaths. The earthquake has also left approximately 1.2 million homeless. Communication systems, air, land, and sea transport facilities, electrical networks and hospitals have also been left severely damaged by the earthquake.

When incidences like this occur one of the quickest charity organisations to react is Médecins Sans Frontières (which translates to Doctors without Borders).

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is the leading non-governmental organisation for emergency medical aid. It is dedicated to providing expert medical relief to victims of war, disasters and epidemics in 80 countries around the world, giving help to those who need it most, regardless of ethnic origin, religion or political affiliation.

Because of the great work that Médecins Sans Frontières continue to do, we have decided to raise some extra money for them from our up and coming 10k at the end of February! (http://hotelympia10k.com/).

So please dig deep into those pockets for a great cause!

If you have family and friends who wish to donate to this great cause then please forward the link to this page on.

If anyone wishes to sign up for the 10k you can do so here http://hotelympia10k.com/enter-race/,  please let me know if you do!

Thank you,

Ian Kibble, Tai Gantois, Barry Conner and Richard Anderson
