    We are fundraising because of  a little boy called Ethan.

                                 This is Ethan's Story

Just ten days after his birth Ethan was diagnosed with a complex congenital heart condition known as Transposition of the Great Arteries. 

Following a cardiac catheter at the age of one, cardiologists at Birmingham Children’s Hospital concluded that surgery was required, palliative in nature, to allow Ethan to lead a normal life.

Ethan was a very loving, gentle little boy, who loved trains and stories. Indeed Ethan was able to recite many stories that had been read to him just moments before.  He bought joy to all who knew him.

Ethan’s heart operation took place in May of last year. To the surprise of the surgeons and cardiologists, Ethan’s recovery was much quicker than expected. However, eight days later his condition deteriorated suddenly. Despite the best efforts of the medical team that night, they could not save Ethan who died at the age of three.

Since Ethan’s death his family and friends have been raising money for the cardiac unit at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital enabling the medical staff to purchase equipment that will give further hope to cardiac children across the UK.
