CRAIG JOHANSEN
(25 December 1974 – 14 September 2003)
A life of quality, if not of quantity…
As many of you will be aware, my good friend - and also brother-in-law - Craig Johansen collapsed and died whilst running with a group of our friends in the Nottingham Robin Hood Half-marathon (aged 28).
Craig was one of life’s all-rounders. In fact he was always willing to involve himself in all sorts of activities. He was a man who will be remembered for his smile. His zest for life was obvious and he enjoyed the company of both his family and his wide circle of friends. Whilst he was extremely intelligent and handsome, it was his good nature that was his biggest asset. Craig was a man of many talents and knew how to use them but was incapable of abusing them. He made a deep impression on all who knew and met him and he is sorely missed.
It appears that despite showing no prior recognisable symptoms, Craig died from sudden arrhythmic death, a form of Sudden Adult Death syndrome. I will be running the London Marathon 2004 to raise money for the charity ‘Cardiac Risk in the Young’ who raise awareness and promote screening for this condition and support families affected. Further information on this charity can be obtained from: www.c-r-y.org.uk .
