Weʼve raised £3,543 to support Seth and his family through his cancer treatment

    Story

Seth was diagnosed with a grade four metastatic large cell medullo blastoma with spinal dissemination. He was transferred to kings and operated on for 12 hours just three days before Christmas 2017, he has been on intensive chemo/radiation therapy since and is about to start chemotherapy.

As a group of friends from the boys previous primary school, we all empathised with Seth and the families plight. After all it could happen to any one of us.

Sam, Seth's mum had always given so much of her time and energy to the school and now as a full time mum of four she home schools her boys whilst managing the frequent hospital visits and treatments. She does all of this with a smile and a positive outlook.

We aim to raise money for the family, to allow them to be able to spend some quality time together, doing so, without the financial worries which often restrict families coping with health issues.

We know Sam, James and their fabulous boys, Isaac, Arthur, Rufus and Seth are over whelmed by the love and support being shown to them.

We decided to raise funds by attempting (and hopefully completing!) the 3 peaks challenge. This involves climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales in under 24 hours, including the drive between them. It is a total ascent of 3064 metres over a distance of 23 miles.

We know it will be hard and we will need to be both mentally and physically strong .In recognition of this, we have started endurance training, which involves the challenge of juggling our everyday lives, but we know it doesn't come close to the strength shown by Sam and Seth and the family who have coped amazingly with this heartbreaking situation.

We hope your donations will go a little way to easing their pain.

We've done it!!! The journey time was 11 hours 30 mins total so yes we completed the challenge in an average total time of 23 hours and 26 mins!!! And on the way we shared Seths story with many climbers lots of them with their own stories and would like to say a special thanks to the lovely man on the plane who donated and who we passed on each mountain and to Paul on Ben Nevis who stopped his painful journey down (bad knees) to root around for a donation xx

Our driver at the top of Snowdon! We were so shattered and most of us aching in our legs but we set off after another long journey with a small amount of traffic. On this mountain the mental and physical strength was sapping and perhaps not surprisingly it turns out that in our own group's we all had moments of thinking about Seth and Sam and drawing final bits of strength from that. Average timing was 3 hours 42 mins

Each mountain was stunning and all of them so different. Our drives between them were slower than we had hoped because our bus wouldn't go faster than 66 miles an hour but we were hot on it and arrived at Scafell Pike at 5 am. This was a shorter distance but much steeper and very cold and windy at the tip. However the sun was coming up and the views were stunning. More mental energy was required and physical stamina was being tested however warm bacon butties and a cuppa tea at the bottom have never tasted so good. Average time 3 hours 12 mins
