Story
Over 60 men lost their lives at Firbeck Colliery, hundreds more suffered life changing injuries, all of the simply putting food on the table for their families.
Over 1500 men and woman relocated from all over the country to work here and settle our village
Relationships were built, families started, our village was born and shaped in to the wonderful place it is today
We want to build a permanent memorial to not only those that lost their lives but to everyone that worked at Firbeck Colliery each playing their part to create a way of life, a village, our pasts and our futures
A very deserving memorial that will ensure the contributions made by all these brave souls is never ever forgotten and celebrated for many years to come
