Story
If we can raise enough for The Link Church, in Uganda, to own its own land and open a school, we will help free the community to achieve its potential and be free from those who take advantage of the poor.
Raising money for The Link Church, in Uganda, to have its own building, is so much more than simple charity. The Pastor of the Link Churches in Uganda is Pastor Timothy Kizito with Livingstone Kayiwa, Collins Ssentumbwe, and Charles Kaweke in support. Pastor Timothy understands the need for his people to have the means to support themselves and, with our help in the UK, has started a programme where the church lends those in need enough money to start a small business. Only when this is profitable do they repay the money, which then goes to the next person.
Pastor Timothy and the team, would like your support to acquire the land to build a facility that supports the local community. This facility would include a Church and a local School. Many cannot afford to send their Children to the Schools in Uganda, which although State sponsored, still require significant parental financial contributions. Often these State schools have over 60+ pupils per class.
As a teacher, I am passionate about this project. I believe education is the one true way to free people from poverty. OXFAM and WHO agree with this statement, but these large organisations have large budgets for staff, premises, and advertising; all of which require financing. In contrast, this campaign will result in 100% of what you give going to directly help the community and will be administrated by that community.
Currently, whilst the church is renting, so much less can be achieved in the local community. We can help for what really is a relatively small amount of money to us in the West. We can help both this generation and also generations to come.
Proverbs 22:7, from the English Standard Version states: “The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender.”

7 years agoIt is so exciting to have started this appeal. I was quiet nervous as I have never done anything like this before. Having been to Uganda I can really appreciate how much a school will mean to the community. Teaching in this country is rewarding as you see your students move successfully to the next stage of their careers but every year there is also disappointment as some students do not really appreciate what a free education really gives them. This project will make a real difference. Thank you so much for any support you can offer.
