Alongside ITEC's ongoing project to fund, build, power and staff Mbale, Uganda's first IT classroom as part of Oasis Uganda, we are on a mission to solve another massive challenge facing this community.

Children in Uganda are regularly exposed to many preventable health risks. According to the World Health Organisation the country ranks 186th out of 191 countries for life expectancy.

With very little access to electricity, light is one of the most limited resources in Mbale. Families resort to temperamental oil lamps and wood burning stoves in order to see to cook dinner in the evenings and allow children to do their homework. Tragically, toxins from these oil lamps and fires is one of the main causes of child mortality.

So, our mission is to Light Up Uganda. Over the next year, we will be fundraising to buy as many wind up torches and solar lamps as we can so that no child or family has to suffer in search of this basic human need.
